Barista (Part-time)

About the role

Alongside the pantry business, Tuck Shop runs a small café counter on Bonham Strand that serves the office crowd between 7:30 and 11am and then settles into a much calmer afternoon. We roast nothing ourselves and make no claims about single origin — we just want a fast, consistent flat white and someone behind the machine who is good with people.

We are hiring two part-time baristas for morning shifts, Monday to Friday. If you have never worked a bar before that is fine: we run a paid three-shift training with our café lead, and you will not be left alone on the machine until you and she both think you are ready.

Minimum 15 hours a week, rosters set fortnightly, and we are genuinely flexible around study timetables. Several of our full-time warehouse and office staff started on this counter.

What you'll do

• Prepare espresso-based drinks, filter coffee and tea to our standard recipes through the morning peak
• Operate the till, handle cash and card payments, and process the office pre-order queue
• Keep the bar, grinder and machine clean and calibrated, including open and close routines
• Restock cups, milk, pastries and retail lines during quieter periods
• Serve regulars quickly and remember the ones who come every day — it is most of the job
• Follow food hygiene and allergen procedures on every drink and every pastry

What we're looking for

• Available for weekday morning shifts, minimum 15 hours a week
• Business-level Cantonese and enough English for the office crowd
• Right to work in Hong Kong without sponsorship
• Reliable and on time — a 7:30 opening only works if you are there at 7:15

Nice to have

• Previous café, bar or F&B experience
• Latte art, or the ambition to learn it
• Food hygiene certificate
