Fleet Controller

About the role

Container Nine runs its own haulage fleet between the Kwai Tsing terminals, customer factories in Shenzhen and Dongguan, and warehouses across the New Territories. The Transport Control Centre is where the day is actually decided: which tractor takes which box, whose permit is valid for which crossing, and who gets bumped when a vessel berths late.

You will be one of four controllers covering the centre from 06:00 to 22:00 on a rotating roster. Drivers call you, terminals call you, customers call you, and Immigration timing at Shenzhen Bay does not care about any of it. The controllers who do well here are calm, decisive, and good with drivers — our fleet has low turnover because the control centre treats them properly.

You will report to the Transport Operations Manager and work closely with customs brokerage, since a truck without the right declaration is a truck going nowhere.

What you'll do

• Plan and dispatch daily haulage jobs across a 42-tractor fleet, balancing terminal appointments and customer windows
• Monitor GPS and telematics; re-sequence live when a vessel berths late, a crossing backs up or a truck breaks down
• Check driver documentation, cross-boundary permits and vehicle licences before every mainland run
• Coordinate with the customs brokerage desk so declarations clear before the truck arrives at the boundary
• Log detention, demurrage and waiting time accurately for customer billing
• Handle driver welfare and roster issues, including rest days and statutory driving hours
• Escalate accidents and incidents immediately and complete the incident report the same shift

What we're looking for

• HKDSE or equivalent; a Higher Diploma in Transport or Logistics is an advantage
• 4+ years in fleet dispatch, container haulage or transport control
• Working knowledge of Kwai Tsing terminal appointment systems and cross-boundary trucking procedures
• Fluent Cantonese — this is a phone-heavy role with drivers and terminal staff
• Able to work a rotating roster including weekends and typhoon standby

Nice to have

• Familiarity with a TMS or telematics platform
• Valid Class 1 or 2 driving licence
• Experience handling dangerous goods road transport under Cap. 295
