KYC / AML Analyst (12-month contract)

About the role

Meridian Asia is midway through a client file remediation that follows our move onto a new onboarding platform. Around 3,400 institutional and professional-investor files need periodic review under the AMLO and the SFC's guideline, and the deadline is not negotiable.

We are hiring four contract analysts to work alongside the six permanent members of the Financial Crime Compliance team. The work is genuinely reviewable: you gather and assess documentation, screen the entity and its connected parties, write the risk assessment, and defend your rating in a weekly quality huddle.

This is a contract, and we will say plainly what that means. Two of the four seats are expected to convert to permanent at the end of the project, and the decision will be made on file quality and throughput rather than on who stayed latest.

What you'll do

• Complete periodic KYC reviews for corporate, fund and professional-investor clients against internal standards.
• Verify ownership structures, identify ultimate beneficial owners and document the source of funds and wealth.
• Run name screening for sanctions, PEP and adverse media exposure, and clear or escalate hits with written rationale.
• Prepare risk assessments and supporting rationale for review by the compliance manager.
• Chase outstanding documentation from relationship teams and clients without letting the file age out.
• Log findings and remediation status accurately so the audit trail survives an external inspection.

What we're looking for

• 2+ years of KYC, CDD or financial crime compliance experience at a bank, broker or asset manager.
• Working knowledge of the AMLO and the SFC Guideline on AML and Counter-Terrorist Financing.
• Higher diploma or above in business, law, finance or a related discipline.
• Careful written English — your rationale is the record.
• Cantonese and English; Mandarin useful for mainland corporate structures.

Nice to have

• ACAMS certification or progress towards it.
• Experience with World-Check, Dow Jones or LexisNexis screening tools.
• Prior remediation or look-back project exposure.
