About the role
The Kowloon Bay central laboratory processes specimens from all eleven Jade Medical sites plus a handful of external referring clinics — around 2,400 tubes a day through clinical chemistry alone, with immunoassay, haematology and a small molecular bench next door.
This is a bench role for someone one to three years out of a Medical Laboratory Science degree. You will spend most of your day on the chemistry and immunoassay analysers, but the rotation plan moves you through haematology and specimen reception in your first eighteen months, because a technologist who has only ever seen one bench is a fragile technologist.
You will work in a team of nine under a Senior MLT, with Dr Priya Menon as Laboratory Director. Competency sign-off is structured, documented and taken seriously here — the lab holds accreditation and every internal audit finding lands on a named person's desk, including hers.
What you'll do
- Run daily clinical chemistry and immunoassay batches, including calibration, QC review and Levey-Jennings monitoring
- Perform first-line troubleshooting on analysers and escalate instrument faults with a clear fault log
- Verify and release results within turnaround targets, holding back anything that fails QC or delta-check rules
- Phone critical values to the requesting clinician and document the read-back
- Maintain reagent inventory, lot-to-lot verification records and cold-chain temperature logs
- Support internal audits and proficiency-testing surveys, and write up corrective actions you are assigned
What we're looking for
- Registered as a Medical Laboratory Technologist (Part I) with the Medical Laboratory Technologists Board of Hong Kong, or eligible and applying
- BSc in Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science or equivalent
- At least 1 year of hospital, private laboratory or comparable bench experience, including student placements
- Careful, legible documentation habits and comfort with laboratory information systems
- Willing to join the Saturday morning rota roughly one week in four
Nice to have
- Hands-on time with Roche or Abbott chemistry platforms
- Exposure to ISO 15189 accreditation work
- Interest in cross-training into molecular diagnostics
What you get
- 13th month salary and annual increment reviewed each April
- Medical and dental cover from day one; free annual body check
- 14 days annual leave rising with service, plus paid examination leave
- Structured 18-month rotation with a documented competency plan
- Shuttle bus from Kowloon Bay MTR to the laboratory building
