About the role
Harbourview Hotels Group operates four Hong Kong properties with 11 function spaces between them, including a 1,100-seat ballroom in Tsim Sha Tsui that is booked out most Saturdays two years ahead. Banquet and events is our second-largest revenue line and the one with the most room to grow.
We are creating this director role because the four properties currently sell against each other. A corporate client asking for 600 covers gets three different proposals from the same group. You will build one commercial function across all four hotels: shared pipeline, consistent pricing architecture, and a single answer when a client asks what we can do.
You will lead a team of eleven across sales and event operations, report to the Chief Commercial Officer, and sit on the group's revenue committee alongside the Director of Revenue and the Directors of Rooms. Expect to spend real time in the market — the wedding planners, the corporate secretaries and the association organisers in this city all know each other.
What you'll do
- Own the group banquet and events budget across four properties, including forecast accuracy and monthly board reporting
- Build and lead a unified sales team of eleven, restructuring from four property silos into one function
- Set the pricing and packaging architecture for weddings, corporate events, conferences and association business
- Personally hold the top 20 accounts — corporate, wedding planner and association — and negotiate the multi-year agreements
- Work with the Directors of Rooms and Revenue on displacement analysis so a banquet booking never quietly costs us more than it earns
- Drive the shift from paper proposals to a proper CRM-backed pipeline with visible conversion rates by segment
- Represent the group at trade shows, wedding fairs and association bidding rounds
What we're looking for
- 12+ years in hotel catering, banquet or MICE sales with at least 4 at Director of Catering or Director of Sales level
- Track record owning a banquet revenue line of nine figures annually, or a credible equivalent
- Native-level Cantonese with business English and Mandarin — the wedding market and the corporate market speak differently
- Deep Hong Kong market relationships across corporate, association and wedding-planner channels
- Bachelor's degree; commercially literate on displacement, contribution margin and contract risk
Nice to have
- Experience integrating sales teams across multiple properties after a restructure or acquisition
- Association and government conference bidding experience
- Familiarity with Delphi or an equivalent group sales and catering system
What you get
- Executive package with group performance incentive
- Relocation and visa support for candidates joining from outside Hong Kong
- Enhanced medical, dental and life cover for family
- Complimentary and discounted stays across all group properties
- Car allowance and full market entertainment budget
