Education Centre Manager

About the role

Abacus Tutors runs centre-based tuition for P1 to S6 students, with a reputation built on small groups and teachers who stay. The two Sha Tin centres are our largest cluster: roughly 1,400 enrolled students, 22 tutors and eight administrative staff between them.

The Centre Manager role covers both sites. You own enrolment, retention, teaching quality, staffing and the cluster P&L. Our regional director sets targets and then leaves you to run your business — the last two people in this role were promoted into head-office positions.

Be clear-eyed about the schedule: the education business in Hong Kong runs on evenings and Saturdays, and so will you. The compensation, the roster and the two weekdays off are structured accordingly.

What you'll do

• Own the P&L for two centres, including enrolment targets, class utilisation and staff cost ratio.
• Lead a team of 30: recruit and develop tutors, run termly lesson observations, and manage the administrative team.
• Drive enrolment through trial classes, referral programmes and local school relationships across Sha Tin and Fo Tan.
• Handle parent escalations personally — in this business a well-handled complaint is worth more than any advertisement.
• Manage timetabling, room utilisation and the tutor roster across both sites.
• Ensure compliance with registration and safety requirements for tutorial schools, including staff vetting.

What we're looking for

• 6+ years in education operations, retail management or a comparable multi-site service business, with at least three years managing a team.
• Demonstrable P&L ownership — you can talk about margin, utilisation and churn without reaching for a slide.
• Native Cantonese for parents, students and staff; business English and Mandarin for our international and cross-border families.
• Comfortable with an evening and Saturday roster.
• Bachelor's degree in any discipline.

Nice to have

• Teaching background — the tutors will listen to you faster if you have stood in front of a class.
• Experience opening or turning around a new site.
• Familiarity with CRM and enrolment systems used in the tuition sector.
