About the role
Our Multi-Asset Solutions team manages around US$2.1 billion for Hong Kong insurers, endowments and family offices across balanced, income and capital-preservation mandates. The investment process is committee-informed but PM-decided: you own your mandates, and the attribution has your name on it.
We are recruiting a senior portfolio manager as one of our two current PMs steps into a Chief Investment Office role. You would take on roughly US$900 million across eleven segregated mandates, set strategic and tactical allocation, and select the underlying managers and instruments with the research team.
Client work is part of the job, not an interruption to it. Institutional clients here expect their PM in the room at the quarterly review, and the ability to explain a bad quarter without hiding behind a benchmark is as important as the good ones. Employment visa sponsorship is available for a candidate relocating into the role.
What you'll do
- Manage a book of segregated multi-asset mandates against agreed objectives, risk budgets and liquidity constraints.
- Set strategic and tactical asset allocation, and document the thesis and the exit condition for every active position.
- Select and monitor underlying funds, ETFs and direct instruments with the research and due diligence teams.
- Oversee implementation, rebalancing, hedging and cash management with the dealing desk.
- Present performance, attribution and outlook at quarterly client reviews and to the investment committee.
- Mentor two analysts and one associate PM, and be the reason they stay.
- Ensure compliance with mandate guidelines and SFC Type 9 obligations at all times.
What we're looking for
- 12+ years in investment management with at least six years of direct multi-asset portfolio responsibility.
- SFC Type 9 licence held, with a clean regulatory and conduct record.
- Verifiable long-term track record with attribution you are willing to walk through line by line.
- Master's degree in finance, economics or a quantitative discipline.
- Institutional client presence — you will be the face of the mandate.
Nice to have
- CFA charterholder.
- Insurance general account or liability-aware mandate experience.
- Working Mandarin for regional institutional clients.
- Experience running a mandate through a genuine drawdown, and what you changed afterwards.
What you get
- Long-term incentive plan with deferred vesting aligned to mandate performance
- Two remote days per week
- Executive medical, dental and international cover for the family
- 25 days annual leave
- Visa sponsorship, relocation and school-fee support considered for candidates moving to Hong Kong
- Research and data budget you control
