Solutions Architect

About the role

Customer engineering is the team that spends its weeks inside other companies. You will be based out of a desk in Central because that is where most of our financial services customers are — three or four days a week on their floor, one day back with the platform teams who have to build whatever you promised.

The role is architecture with consequences attached. You size the migration, design the landing zone, agree the control mapping with the customer's second line of defence, and then stay through the cutover. When a change advisory board says no, you are the person who finds out why and comes back with something they can approve.

This is not a pre-sales role dressed up in an engineering title. You will write reference architectures, review Terraform, and be expected to hold your own in a technical challenge from a bank's own principal architect.

What you'll do

• Design target architectures for regulated migrations — landing zones, network topology, identity, data residency and recovery.
• Run technical discovery with customer architecture, security and compliance teams, and document the constraints properly.
• Map platform controls to the customer's control framework and to HKMA cloud guidance, in a form their auditors accept.
• Support the commercial team on technical feasibility and sizing before commitments are signed.
• Stay through delivery: attend change advisory boards, review the migration runbook, and be on site for major cutovers.
• Feed recurring customer needs back to product so the platform absorbs them instead of the next architect rebuilding them.

What we're looking for

• Eight or more years in cloud architecture or infrastructure engineering, including customer-facing work.
• Deep AWS or Azure architecture experience with certification at professional or expert level.
• Hands-on Kubernetes and Terraform — you will be reviewing code, not slideware.
• Experience with Hong Kong regulated industries and the evidence expectations that come with them.
• Business-level Cantonese, English and Mandarin; customer meetings switch languages without warning.

Nice to have

• Prior in-house architecture role at a bank or insurer.
• Experience with core banking or policy administration platform migrations.
• Familiarity with mainland data-transfer requirements for cross-border workloads.
