Red Lantern Games started in a Kwun Tong industrial unit in 2013 making small mobile titles, and broke out with a side-scrolling action game set in a fictional walled city that sold well enough in Japan and Europe to fund everything since. The studio's identity is built on that: games that are unmistakably from here, in tone, art direction and voice acting.
The team of around ninety covers engineering, art, narrative and live operations across two shipped console titles and one live mobile game with a long-running player base. Cantonese voice acting is recorded in-house, and the narrative team writes in Chinese first and localises outward — the opposite of the usual pipeline.
Games are a demanding industry and the studio does not pretend otherwise; there have been crunch periods around ship dates, and management has publicly committed to a hard cap on overtime after a rough 2024 launch. The next title is in pre-production and the studio is hiring gameplay and tools engineers.
