Curriculum Designer (Junior Secondary)

About the role

BrightPath's three secondary campuses have quietly diverged. Each has good teachers and defensible schemes of work, but a student transferring between them in S2 arrives into a different sequence, different assessments and, in Science, a different order of topics entirely. That is the problem this role exists to fix.

The Curriculum & Assessment Unit is five people reporting to the Director of Academic Standards. You would lead the junior secondary rewrite: a two-year programme covering S1 to S3 across all subjects, delivered in phases so that no cohort is disrupted mid-year.

This is not a desk job with a template. You will spend a day a week in classrooms, argue with panel heads who have taught their sequence for a decade, and win those arguments with evidence rather than authority.

What you'll do

• Lead the S1–S3 curriculum rewrite across all subjects, phased over two academic years and aligned to HKDSE progression at senior secondary.
• Build a common assessment framework, including moderated marking standards and a shared item bank.
• Run design workshops with panel heads across the three campuses and land consensus without flattening subject expertise.
• Observe lessons, gather teacher and student feedback, and revise materials based on what actually happens in a classroom.
• Produce teacher-facing guidance that is genuinely usable — sequenced units, exemplar lessons and assessment rubrics.
• Report progress and outcome data to the Academic Board each term.

What we're looking for

• Master's degree in Education, Curriculum Studies, Assessment or a closely related field.
• 6+ years in teaching plus curriculum design, including at least one whole-programme rewrite you led.
• Deep familiarity with the Hong Kong junior secondary framework and its articulation into HKDSE.
• Native-standard English for documentation; business Cantonese to work credibly with local panel heads.
• Assessment literacy — validity, reliability and moderation are terms you use precisely rather than decoratively.

Nice to have

• Experience with IB MYP or Cambridge Lower Secondary alongside a local curriculum.
• Educational data analysis, including value-added measures.
• Published curriculum or assessment work.
