About the role
BrightPath Primary in Kowloon Tong takes about 480 children from P1 to P6. We cap classes at 25, which is unusual here and expensive for us, and we defend it every budget cycle because it is the reason the teaching works.
The lower-primary team is eleven teachers plus two learning-support staff. You would take a P1, P2 or P3 class as class teacher, teaching Chinese, Mathematics and General Studies, with English handled by the English panel.
We are recruiting for September because two colleagues have moved into curriculum roles internally — which is genuinely how most of our senior staff got there. If you want a school where the career path exists on paper and in practice, this is a reasonable place to look.
What you'll do
- Act as class teacher for one lower-primary class, including registration, pastoral care and parent liaison.
- Plan and teach Chinese Language, Mathematics and General Studies in line with the school's schemes of work.
- Design formative assessments and keep individual progress records for every child in your class.
- Work with the learning-support team on differentiation for students with identified needs.
- Run one extra-curricular activity per term — the current list runs from Chinese calligraphy to a Lego robotics club.
- Attend parent evenings, and write the termly reports parents actually read.
What we're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Education, or a bachelor's degree with a PGDE in primary education.
- Registered Teacher status under the Education Ordinance, or eligibility to register before the start of term.
- 2+ years of primary classroom experience in Hong Kong.
- Native Cantonese with strong written 繁體中文 for teaching Chinese Language; business English for staff meetings and parent communication.
- Right to work in Hong Kong without sponsorship.
Nice to have
- Putonghua Proficiency Test certification.
- Special educational needs training or a SENCO-track qualification.
- Experience with inquiry-based General Studies teaching.
What you get
- 13th month salary
- Class size capped at 25 and two free periods every day
- Full school holidays per the academic calendar
- Medical cover including Chinese medicine and physiotherapy
- Fully funded further study support after two years of service
- 50% tuition discount for staff children across all BrightPath campuses
