About the role
Loudhailer's Consumer Brands practice looks after a specialty coffee chain, a Nordic furniture retailer's Hong Kong launch, and a homegrown skincare label that has just started shipping to Taiwan. Nine people, one open-plan floor in Wan Chai, and a strict rule that we do not pitch a story we would not read ourselves.
The Account Manager role sits between our Account Director and two executives. You would own day-to-day client relationships, run the media programme, and be the person a journalist actually calls back — which in this city is earned, not inherited.
We are honest about the trade: consumer PR here means evenings at launches and the occasional Saturday. In exchange we protect recovery time properly, and the practice has not lost anyone to burnout in three years.
What you'll do
- Own day-to-day client relationships for three consumer accounts, including monthly reporting and quarterly planning.
- Develop story angles and sell them in to Hong Kong lifestyle, F&B and business media in both Cantonese and English.
- Manage media and KOL programmes end to end: list building, briefing, seeding, event attendance and follow-up.
- Write bilingual press materials, Q&A documents and spokesperson briefing notes.
- Supervise two account executives, review their work before it goes out, and grow them.
- Run first-line issues management, escalating to the Account Director with a recommendation rather than just a problem.
What we're looking for
- 4+ years in PR or communications, at least two agency-side in Hong Kong with consumer or lifestyle clients.
- A live, current media network here — we will ask which five journalists you spoke to last month and what about.
- Native Cantonese, strong written 繁體中文, and business English; Mandarin needed for Taiwan and GBA outreach.
- Evidence of coverage you personally secured, with the pitch that got it.
- Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing or a related field.
Nice to have
- Crisis or issues management training.
- Experience with earned-media measurement beyond AVE.
- F&B or beauty sector specialism.
What you get
- Time off in lieu for evening and weekend events, taken not banked
- 18 days annual leave plus three days over Lunar New Year
- Medical, dental and an annual wellness allowance
- Client and partner product benefits across coffee, furniture and skincare
- Formal media training and a HK$10,000 development budget
