About the role
We are rolling a new store concept across the whole Lion Rock network between October and June: warmer materials, a proper gear-testing zone, and a boot wall that finally makes sense to someone who has never bought hiking boots before. Eighteen stores, most of them refitted over a single closed weekend.
This nine-month contract sits inside the store design team in Lai Chi Kok and exists to make the rollout land. You will build the visual standards pack for the new concept, then be on site for the installs — usually Friday night to Sunday morning — making the plan work in a real shop with real fixtures and a shopfitter who has questions.
It is physical, it involves ladders, and it involves being the calm one at 2am when the graphics arrived in the wrong size. In return you get a portfolio piece covering an entire chain, and we hire contractors into permanent roles when the work and the budget both line up.
What you'll do
- Produce planograms, window schemes and visual standards packs for the new store concept across three store formats
- Lead on-site installation over refit weekends, briefing store teams and coordinating with shopfitters and the graphics supplier
- Adapt the concept to awkward real-world sites — pillars, low ceilings, a 40-foot glass frontage in Tsim Sha Tsui
- Build seasonal window and focal-point calendars aligned to the buying team's launch dates
- Train store supervisors so the standard holds two months after you leave the building
- Photograph and document every completed store for the standards library
What we're looking for
- 3+ years in visual merchandising for a multi-store retailer, ideally fashion, sportswear or outdoor
- Able to produce clear planograms and elevations — SketchUp, Illustrator or equivalent
- Available for weekend and overnight installs across the contract period, with time back in lieu
- Business Cantonese for briefing store teams and contractors on site
- Higher diploma in visual merchandising, interior design or a related discipline
Nice to have
- Experience of a full chain-wide concept rollout
- Comfort with lighting design and fixture specification
- Basic 3D rendering to sell a scheme to a nervous stakeholder
What you get
- Time off in lieu for every weekend install, taken in the week
- Contract completion gratuity on successful delivery of all 18 stores
- 50% staff purchase on own-brand gear
- Travel and meals covered on every install
- Priority consideration for permanent roles in the design team
