Grants & Impact Analyst (Graduate Scheme)

About the role

The Trust manages around HK$40 million a year of grant income across eleven funding lines, each with its own reporting template, indicator set and deadline. Impact & Evaluation is the four-person team that makes sure the numbers we send out are true, and — more usefully — that the numbers we keep tell us something worth acting on.

This eighteen-month graduate track is designed for a recent graduate who is comfortable in data but wants it pointed at something. You will start on grant reporting mechanics, move into outcome measurement in month six, and finish with a real evaluation of one service line that you present to the senior management team yourself.

Hilary Poon, who leads Impact & Evaluation, has run this scheme twice; both previous analysts moved into permanent roles here. You will sit with programme colleagues rather than behind a wall, because an indicator you have never seen collected is an indicator you will misread.

What you'll do

• Compile quarterly and annual grant reports across eleven funding lines, reconciling service data against finance records
• Maintain the indicator library so the same output is not counted three different ways in three reports
• Clean, analyse and visualise service data to answer questions programme managers actually ask
• Support the design of outcome measurement tools — pre/post surveys, follow-up calls, simple validated scales
• Run one supervised evaluation of a service line end to end and present the findings internally
• Help draft the data and evidence sections of new funding proposals

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree, graduating in 2025 or 2026, in social sciences, statistics, public policy, economics or a related field
• Confident with Excel; some exposure to SPSS, R, Python or Power BI through coursework or projects
• Able to write clearly in English and discuss findings in Cantonese with frontline colleagues
• Genuine interest in the social sector — this pays visibly less than a corporate graduate scheme and we would rather you knew that now

Nice to have

• Final-year project or dissertation involving survey design or programme evaluation
• Volunteer or placement experience in an NGO setting
• Familiarity with logic models or theory of change
